In the last three weeks, I, a person essentially feeding only myself, have spent about $400 easily at Berkeley Bowl on produce, meats and seafood, and wine. I have been cooking like crazy. I have driven around Oakland and found a fantastic taco truck in a parking lot (there are many, but this one stands above–International at 22nd), I have surprised myself with impromptu cooking when all groceries were gone, bank account was at $4.29, and I found myself hungry (which resulted in a very good leftover scrap vegetable risotto, as I had boullion cubes, cannaiolo rice, a few mushrooms, a bit of bell pepper, a few slices of sub par domestic prosciutto, etc), and more.

Last night I made beer-battered fried Zucchini blossoms and served it with (thanks for the idea J) pepperoncino jelly from Piedmonte, and then pan-seared sweet lime and ginger sesame sushi grade tuna, served with puree bell pepper sauces (yellow, and red, seperate) and pan-fried fresh artichoke hearts from some amazingly huge and flavorful artichokes and snap pea sprouts, and then fresh egg pasta tortellonis stuffed with ricotta, roasted red and yellow bell pepper, tarragon, and the juice from the roasted peppers with a balsamic vinegar butter sauce and roasted figs. Eventually we drank two bottles of wine, a few rum and cokes, and I made pannenkoeken with red current jam and raspberries.
